Free PDF converter: an expert's analysis
The question is legitimate: why pay to convert a PDF? A specialist's answer, comparing what actually comes out of the two families of tools.
What a free converter produces
For a simple document — text, a few headings — the result is fine, and it is a reasonable choice for a one-off need. The limits appear on structured documents: tables turned into images, fonts replaced without control, line spacing that drifts, and depending on the service a watermark, a page cap or a queue. Nothing scandalous: that is the cost of free.
What a complete conversion engine preserves
The structure: real table cells, managed fonts, anchored images, heading hierarchy. On a set of accounts, a contract or an illustrated report, the difference is measured in hours of reformatting avoided.
Our model, without ambiguity
IgoDoc is a paid service: a 48-hour trial for 0.50 € — not a free version, a trial at a symbolic price — then 39.90 €/month, cancellable at any time in one click. The trial opens every tool: the most reliable way to compare conversion fidelity on YOUR documents before deciding.
Try IgoDoc Pro for 0.50€ for 48 hours
IgoDoc is your secure and powerful platform for editing, signing, and annotating important documents.
Don't miss this special offer! After the 48-hour trial, your subscription will continue at our regular rate of 39.90€/month.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions below. For other inquiries, please contact us by email.
Is there a free version?
No — IgoDoc has no free plan, and we prefer precision to hints: access starts with a 48-hour trial priced at 0.50 €, then 39.90 € per month, cancellable in one click. Free converters exist and are enough for a simple, occasional document; their technical limits (tables flattened into images, watermarks, page caps) show on structured documents. The 0.50 € trial exists exactly for this: comparing the fidelity of the result on your own files before committing.
Which tools are included?
Over 25 tools, with no hidden extras: PDF conversions to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPEG and PNG (and the reverse, including HEIC, RTF, WebP, Pages), a full PDF editor, electronic signature, merge, split, rotate, watermark, compress, unlock and document translation. One subscription covers everything, on all your devices.
Is my documents' layout really preserved?
It is our central criterion. Tables are rebuilt cell by cell, fonts reused or substituted with metric equivalents, images anchored in place. On a typical document, the original and the conversion read side by side without pagination drift. Very graphic layouts (magazines, brochures) remain the edge case of any conversion — we own that rather than promise the impossible.
How long does processing take?
Under 30 seconds for nearly all documents, upload included. Large files or scans going through OCR can take a little longer; progress is shown continuously and the download starts as soon as processing ends.
What happens to my files after processing?
They are deleted from our servers once processing completes — no cloud storage, no archive, no third-party access. The transfer is encrypted. Your contracts, accounts and personal documents serve only what you do with them, then disappear from our infrastructure.
What is the exact price of the service?
0.50 € for 48 hours of full access — a paid trial, there is no free period — then 39.90 € per month if you continue. The amount is identical whatever the volume processed: no per-file cost, no higher tier. Prices include VAT, and the renewal is announced before every payment.
How do I cancel?
From your account, subscription section: one click, an e-mail confirmation, immediate effect — access stays open until the end of the paid period. Cancelling is possible from the trial period onwards; you will then have spent only 0.50 €.
Can I convert a PDF to Excel?
Yes: the PDF's tables become calculable cells again in an .xlsx workbook, respecting rows, columns and merges. It is the favourite conversion of finance profiles — accounts, statements, exports. The Excel-to-PDF direction is covered too, to freeze a workbook before sharing.
Does the service work on mobile?
Fully: every page and every tool works in the phone's browser, with no app. Sign a contract, convert an attachment or annotate a document from the touchscreen — the interface is designed for that use first.
Can I translate a document directly?
Yes: PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel translate into more than 30 languages, layout preserved. Drop the file, pick the target language, download the translated document — included in the subscription, like the rest of the tools.
What your document keeps
Tables
Grids stay grids: rows, columns and merged cells are rebuilt, not photographed.
Fonts
The document's fonts are reused or substituted with the closest match, keeping weight and size.
Images
Every visual keeps its position, its proportions and its original resolution.
Layout fidelity is our baseline requirement: a converted document should read side by side with the original — no surprises.
